Tailoring g-C3N4 with Lanthanum and Cobalt Oxides for Enhanced Photoelectrochemical and Photocatalytic Activity

Naseer Iqbal

Summary: In this study, the synthesis, characterization, and photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic characteristics of hydrothermally prepared La2O3-g-C3N4, CoO-g-C3N4, and La2O3-CoO-g-C3N4 were discussed. It was found that the La2O3-CoO-g-C3N4 nanocomposite exhibited high visible-light activity and enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen generation. Furthermore, it showed significant photocurrent efficiency in the solar-driven water-splitting reaction and achieved over 90% decomposition of methylene blue under visible-light irradiation.

Ultrasonically anchored MoO3-g-C3N4 photocatalyst for enhanced solar driven hydrogen generation and environmental remediation

Naseer Iqbal

Summary: This study presents the ultrasonic fabrication of MoO3-g-C3N4 photocatalyst, resulting in substantially improved photocatalytic performance. XRD and FTIR analysis confirmed the orthorhombic phase of MoO3-g-C3N4. SEM images revealed the oblate-like structure of g-C3N4 and nano rod-like morphology of MoO3 and MoO3-g-C3N4. The photocatalytic properties were evaluated through photoelectrochemical and photodegradation measurements, demonstrating that MoO3-g-C3N4 exhibited significantly higher photocurrent density and better degradation efficiency compared to pure MoO3 and g-C3N4. The efficient charge separation and transfer observed in MoO3-g-C3N4 can be attributed to the heterojunctions formed between g-C3N4 and MoO3, reducing charge recombination and enhancing photocatalytic performance.

MoO3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme (S-scheme) system derived from MoS2/melamine dual precursors for enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution driven by visible light

Jinwen Shi et al.

Summary: A dual-precursors co-pyrolysis strategy was used to prepare MoO3/g-C3N4 composite photocatalysts, showing improved photocatalytic performance under visible-light irradiation. The MoS2 precursor facilitated intimate contact with g-C3N4 nanosheets and high dispersity of MoO3, while the strong interaction between MoO3 and g-C3N4 altered the morphology and electronic structure of g-C3N4, generating an efficient Z scheme system in the composite. This cooperative effect significantly enhanced the activity of photocatalytic H-2 evolution, providing valuable insight for the construction of composite photocatalyst systems for visible-light-driven H-2 evolution.

Summary: The novel Cd-doped WO3 and Cd-doped WO3@g-C3N4 heterostructure nanocomposites were designed and studied for their photocatalytic performance in removing dyes such as MB, Rh 6G, MR, and MO. They showed improved catalytic efficiency and enhanced charge transfer due to Cd doping and/or the formation of a heterojunction between the CWC and CNDs compositing with CNDs.
