Angiogenesis Driven by the CEBPD-hsa-miR-429-VEGFA Signaling Axis Promotes Urothelial Carcinoma Progression

Ti-Chun Chan et al.

Summary: This study uncovers the biological significance of the CEBPD/hsa-miR-429/VEGFA axis in angiogenesis and tumor growth in urothelial carcinoma (UC). By inhibiting hsa-miR-429, CEBPD stabilizes the expression of VEGFA, leading to the progression of UC.

Development and Validation of a Prognostic Nomogram for Predicting Cancer-Specific Survival in Patients With Lymph Node Positive Bladder Cancer: A Study Based on SEER Database

Xiangpeng Zhan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to construct a prognostic model for predicting the cancer-specific survival of bladder cancer patients with lymph node-positive. The researchers analyzed data from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database and established a nomogram to predict survival. The model showed good performance in predicting survival and could be useful for patient counseling and treatment selection.

Diagnostic performance of nuclear matrix protein 22 and urine cytology for bladder cancer: A meta-analysis

Jie Wang et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the diagnostic efficacy of nuclear matrix protein 22 (NMP22) and urine cytology (UC) in the diagnosis of bladder cancer. The results showed that NMP22 has moderate diagnostic efficiency for bladder cancer, with higher sensitivity but lower specificity compared to UC. It cannot replace traditional cystoscopy and UC currently, but it can be combined for detecting bladder tumors and plays an important role in screening, postoperative monitoring, and follow-up.

CRISPR/Cas9 in cancer therapy: A review with a special focus on tumor angiogenesis

Krishnasamy naidu gopal Hariprabu et al.

Summary: Tumor angiogenesis is a critical target for cancer treatment, but current anti-angiogenic medicines are ineffective due to compensatory molecular mechanisms. The development of gene-editing technology like CRISPR/Cas9 provides new possibilities for cancer therapy by dissecting carcinogenesis pathways, identifying new biological targets, and potentially arming cancer cells.

The heterogeneity of cancer endothelium: The relevance of angiogenesis and endothelial progenitor cells in cancer microenvironment

Giovanna Armani et al.

Summary: Tumor-associated vessels formation is crucial for cancer growth and metastasis, involving complex interactions between tumor endothelium, immune response, and other components of the tumor microenvironment. The diversity of cancer endothelium, originating from various sources and exhibiting morphological and molecular aberrations, is recognized. Endothelial Progenitor Cells play an important role in tumor vasculature composition, providing physical support and paracrine signaling for angiogenesis. Various treatment options, particularly novel therapeutic strategies to overcome tumor resistance to anti-angiogenic agents, are being explored.

Non-coding RNA in cancer

Huiwen Yan et al.

Summary: The majority of the human genome is transcribed into non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that play crucial roles in regulating cancer initiation and progression. This review focuses on recent studies of the function, regulatory mechanisms, and therapeutic potential of ncRNAs such as microRNA (miRNA), long ncRNA (lncRNA), circular RNA (circRNA), and PIWI interacting RNA (piRNA) in various types of cancers.

Nuclear exosome HMGB3 secreted by nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells promotes tumour metastasis by inducing angiogenesis

Kaiwen Zhang et al.

Summary: High expression of HMGB3 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma is associated with micronuclei formation and metastasis, while HMGB3-containing nEXOs from NPC cells can accelerate angiogenesis and correlate positively with tumor metastasis. This study suggests that nEXO HMGB3 could serve as a significant biomarker for NPC metastasis and provide a basis for anti-angiogenesis therapy in clinical metastasis.
