Comorbidities and phenotype-genotype correlation in children with familial Mediterranean fever

Nuray Aktay Ayaz et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 1687 children with FMF and found that patients with concomitant diseases exhibited a more severe disease course, and those carrying the M694V mutation were more prone to comorbidities.

Predictors of persistent inflammation in familial Mediterranean fever and association with damage

Hakan Babaoglu et al.

Summary: This study identified predictors of persistent inflammation in adult FMF patients for the first time, and found that persistent inflammation is a major cause of insidious damage. Male gender, lower education levels, and the presence of other inflammatory comorbidities were found to be more likely to lead to persistent inflammation.

Summary: A set of evidence-based core statements defining colchicine resistance/intolerance in patients with FMF were developed to guide clinicians and health authorities in the management of patients with FMF.
