Highly efficient and selective removal of Pb2+ by ultrafast synthesis of HKUST-1: Kinetic, isotherms and mechanism analysis

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized HKUST-1 MOF with excellent adsorption performance for Pb2+ in just one minute. The adsorption behavior was dominated by monolayer chemisorption, with potential mechanisms including ion exchange and coordination interaction. This work not only provides a new idea for Pb2+ removal using primary MOFs, but also has implications for constructing green and low-cost MOFs for heavy metal contaminated water treatment.

Facile immobilization of ethylenediamine tetramethylene-phosphonic acid into UiO-66 for toxic divalent heavy metal ions removal: An experimental and theoretical exploration

Yanghao Yan et al.

Summary: A stable and efficient adsorbent UiO-66-EDTMPA was successfully obtained for the first time by facile immobilization of EDTMPA onto UiO-66, showing significantly higher maximum adsorption capacities for heavy metal ions compared to raw UiO-66. The adsorption behavior, factors influencing progress, critical characterization, and molecular dynamics simulation revealed the mechanism behind the enhanced adsorption, indicating promising applications in removing heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions.

Fabrication of synergistic sites on an oxygen-rich covalent organic framework for efficient removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) from water

Ruomeng Zhu et al.

Summary: This study developed an oxygen-rich covalent organic framework (JUC-505) functionalized with carboxyl (-COOH) groups to form an efficient adsorbent for the removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions with synergistic effects. Density functional theory calculations were used to investigate the adsorption mechanism, showing great potential for heavy metal removal. The adsorption capacity for Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions exceeded most of the reported porous adsorbents.

Constructing the frustrated Lewis pairs within N,S-codoped carbon to reveal the role of adjacent heteroatom sites for highly effective removal of heavy metal ions

Junwu Chen et al.

Summary: Heteroatom doping is a promising strategy for improving the adsorption performance of carbon materials for heavy-metal ions from wastewater. Theoretical simulations successfully predicted that N,S-codoped carbon has a higher adsorption capacity due to the short distance between N and S sites. A fast and low-energy approach for preparing N,S-codoped carbon was proposed based on this finding. The unique dual-doped architecture significantly enhanced the adsorption capacity of N,S-codoped carbon for Cr(VI).

β-Cyclodextrin functionalized SBA-15 via amide linkage as a super adsorbent for rapid removal of methyl blue

Dongli Li et al.

Summary: The ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15 functionalized with beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) via amide linkage efficiently removes bulky aqueous organic dye methyl blue (MB) from water. Characterization of the surface properties of the resulting beta-CD-functionalized adsorbents (SBA15-A-CD) shows uniform modification of SBA-15 channels with amine groups and beta-CD-termination via amide linkages. The enhanced adsorption capacity for MB is attributed to tailored host-guest interactions and electrostatic attractions between functional groups.

Synthesis, characterization and application of spherical and uniform molecularly imprinted polymeric nanobeads as efficient sorbent for selective extraction of rosmarinic acid from plant matrix

Sara Alipour et al.

Summary: This study synthesized uniform and spherical molecularly imprinted polymeric (MIP) nanobeads for selective and efficient preconcentration of Rosmarinic acid (RA). The nanobeads were characterized using FTIR, SEM, and BET techniques, and showed nano-sized particles with an average size of 88 nm. The prepared MIP nanobeads were successfully used in ultrasonic-assisted dispersive solid phase extraction (UA-DSPE) for selective extraction of RA from Salvia Officinalis leaves extract, with highest recovery rate observed.

Synthesis of -thiazole Schiff base modified SBA-15 mesoporous silica for selective Pb(II) adsorption

Wenyong Wang et al.

Summary: The selective removal of Pb(II) ions was achieved by modifying mesoporous silica materials, SBA-NS and SBA-ENS, which showed improved adsorption performance and selectivity for Pb(II) in binary metal ion systems. The experimental results indicated that the imine N atoms on the two adsorbents played a dominant role during the Pb(II) sorption process, providing a potential solution for waste water treatment and lead recycling.
