Green analytical chemistry metrics: A review

Muhammad Sajid et al.

Summary: Green analytical chemistry promotes environmentally friendly practices such as reducing the use of toxic chemicals, energy-efficient equipment, and minimizing waste generation. Various metrics have been developed to evaluate the greenness of analytical procedures, with tools like Analytical Eco-Scale and Green Analytical Procedure Index playing important roles in assessing the environmental impact of analytical processes. This paper explores the principles and applications of these greenness evaluation metrics, highlighting both their advantages and limitations in promoting sustainable analytical practices.

Development of dispersive solid-liquid extraction method based on organic polymers followed by deep eutectic solvents elution; application in extraction of some pesticides from milk samples prior to their determination by HPLC-MS/MS

Mahboob Nemati et al.

Summary: An effective extraction procedure based on dispersive solid phase extraction was developed for the extraction of different pesticides from milk samples. The method showed wide linear ranges, low limits of detection and quantification, and good method validation results. The developed method was successfully applied to the determination of pesticides in real milk samples.

Dispersive solid phase extraction combined with in syringe deep eutectic solvent based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction for determination of some pesticides and their metabolite in egg samples

Farnaz Monajemzadeh et al.

Summary: A new sample preparation method combining magnetic effervescent tablet dispersive solid phase extraction with in syringe dispersive liquid-liquid micmextraction has been developed for the extraction of pesticides and their metabolites from egg samples. The method showed relatively low limits of detection, high enrichment factors, and extraction recoveries, with proper precision for the analysis of analytes in forty egg samples.

Real-World Anticoagulant Use and Incidence of Venous Thromboembolism and Major Bleeding in Children

Jill Hardin et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the use of anticoagulants in children and found that they are infrequently used in the pediatric population, especially in specific conditions. Heparins were the most frequently used anticoagulant, while DOACs were used the least. Exposure to these therapies was associated with higher incidence rates of venous thromboembolism.

A simple preconcentration method for highly sensitive determination of Pb in bee products by magnetic ionic liquid dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry

Emiliano F. Fiorentini et al.

Summary: A highly efficient preconcentration method based on dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction technique with a magnetic ionic liquid was developed to determine ultra-trace levels of lead in various honey products. The method allowed for phase separation without centrifugation, reducing analysis time and simplifying the process. High extraction efficiency, sensitivity enhancement, and low detection limit were achieved under optimal conditions.
