Siyu Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel silver metal-organic framework (AgMOF) was developed as a self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emitter, and an ECL resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) biosensor was successfully fabricated for miRNA-107 detection. The biosensor exhibited a wide linear relationship range and low detection limit, broadening the potential ECL applications of silver-based nanomaterials.

DNA-Templated Bioorthogonal Reactions via Catalytic Hairpin Assembly for Precise RNA Imaging in Live Cells

Su-Jing Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, we reported the design of a fluorogenic sensor that combines a bioorthogonal reaction with a DNA cascade circuit for precise RNA imaging in live cells. By triggering catalytic hairpin assembly upon target mRNA, the chemical reaction partners are brought in close proximity, resulting in high effective concentrations and efficient bioorthogonal reactions. The fluorogenic sensor demonstrated high signal-to-noise ratio and low background signals, enabling sensitive detection of target mRNA and accurate imaging in live cells.

Extension of duplex specific nuclease sensing application with RNA aptamer

Ghazala Ashraf et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel approach has been proposed to extend the sensing application of duplex specific nuclease (DSN) by coupling RNA aptamer. The method achieves target detection through fluorescent signal enhancement by cleaving hybridized probes with DSN. The assay has a low detection limit and can be applied for real-time detection of thrombin release from live cells.

Identification of potential circRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory networks in response to graphene quantum dots in microglia by microarray analysis

Tianshu Wu et al.

Summary: The study identified the importance of circRNAs in the neurotoxicity of nitrogen-doped and amino-functionalized graphene quantum dots, revealing different effects at low and high doses. Additionally, classical signaling pathways like mTOR, ErbB, and MAPK were found to contribute to the neurotoxicity of both types of graphene quantum dots. These findings emphasize the necessity of a comprehensive analysis of molecular mechanisms through epigenetics approaches in biosafety assessment of graphene-based nanomaterials.

Jing Xiao et al.

Summary: A novel CPEC biosensor integrating BiOI-Bi/CNTs photocathode with TRSDA was proposed for selective and sensitive detection of miRNA. The innovative two-site hybridization strategy and TRSDA enabled specific recognition of target miRNA let-7a, leading to a linear photocurrent response from 0.2 to 2000 pM with a low detection limit of 0.1 pM. This approach opens up new opportunities for developing robust biochemical detection systems.

Silver nanocluster-lightened catalytic hairpin assembly for enzyme-free and label-free mRNA detection

Jianxin Tang et al.

Summary: A novel enzyme-free and label-free fluorescence assay based on DNA silver nanocluster-lightened catalytic hairpin assembly has been developed for sensitive and cost-effective detection of mRNA expression level. The strategy relies on the use of two hairpin probes with DNA-stabilized silver nanoclusters to specifically target mRNA, showing a linear relationship between fluorescence intensity and concentration of surviving mRNA with a detection limit of about 45 pM. This platform has great potential for detection of disease-related biomarkers and early clinical theragnostic.
