In-situ TiC particles strengthen and ductilize Fe1.2MnNi0.8Cr high entropy alloy

Chenmeng Zhao et al.

Summary: By in-situ addition of Ti and C into the Fe1.2MnNi0.8Cr high-entropy alloy matrix, TiC particles were produced and extra solid-solution effect was introduced to strengthen the matrix, resulting in improved mechanical properties of the composites.

Dislocation slip induced tensile plasticity and improved work-hardening capability of high-entropy metallic glass composite

Minglei Liu et al.

Summary: The study focused on a stable beta-phase high-entropy metallic glass composite that demonstrated excellent tensile ductility and improved work-hardening capability. By combining refractory high-entropy alloy dendrites with a metallic glass matrix, the composite achieved good mechanical properties through a dislocation-dominated deformation mechanism.

Tensile mechanical properties of CoCrFeNiTiAl high entropy alloy via molecular dynamics simulations

Zhi Hui Sun et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the properties of CoCrFeNi(Al0.3Ti0.2)(x) high-entropy alloys (HEAs) with different Ti and Al contents, as well as the effect of temperature on their mechanical properties. The experimental results show that the addition of Ti and Al can significantly improve the mechanical properties of CoCrFeNi HEAs. Molecular dynamics simulations also confirm that the elastic modulus and tensile strength of CoCrFeNi(Al0.3Ti0.2)(x) HEAs are enhanced with the addition of Ti and Al.

In-situ formed oxide enables extraordinary high-cycle fatigue resistance in additively manufactured CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy

Young-Kyun Kim et al.

Summary: The study investigates the high-cycle fatigue properties and deformation behavior of additively manufactured equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys (HEAs), revealing their superior yield strength and high fatigue resistance. The excellent fatigue resistance of the SLM-built HEA is attributed to its unique microstructural characteristics, internal defects, and deformation twins generated during cyclic load. The un-melted powder generated during the additive manufacturing process also contributes to the HCF resistance of the SLM-built HEA.

Tribological behavior of Ti(C, N)-TiB2 composite cermets using FeCoCrNiAl high entropy alloys as binder over a wide range of temperatures

Zhanjiang Li et al.

Summary: Ti(C, N)-TiB2 composite cermets with different binders were fabricated and their wear resistance at elevated temperatures was studied. The HEA binder composite cermets showed superior wear resistance compared to the Ni-Co binder composite cermets. Different wear mechanisms were observed at different temperatures, with higher temperatures leading to oxidative wear and adhesive wear dominating. The enhanced wear performance of HEA binder composite cermets is attributed to their high hardness, toughness, and excellent high-temperature softening and oxidation resistance.

Simulations of primary damage in a High Entropy Alloy: Probing enhanced radiation resistance

O. R. Deluigi et al.

Summary: Research has shown that high entropy alloys exhibit a lower average number of defects in the early stages of radiation damage response compared to pure Ni, but there is no significant difference in defect evolution during the cascade, indicating that the radiation resistance of high entropy alloys may not be due to a reduction in primary damage caused by chemical disorder, but probably caused by longer-time defect evolution.
