A Linear Inchworm Piezomotor with a New Configuration: Design Considerations, Fabrication and Characterization

Mohammad Sangchap et al.

Summary: This research presents the design, modeling, manufacturing, and characterization of a one-axis walker type inchworm piezomotor. The piezomotor offers advantages such as simple design, low manufacturing cost, high speed, and stroke. Finite element method is used to model and control the stiffness-related parameters. Experimental tests demonstrate the piezomotor's large movement range, maximum operating frequency, and structural behavior stability.

A novel friction-actuated 2-DOF high precision positioning stage with hybrid decoupling structure

Yanling Tian et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel friction-actuated two degree-of-freedom positioning stage with large motion stroke, high resolution, and low coupling rate. By utilizing a parallelly decoupled driving unit and serially configured sliders, as well as a clamping unit to adjust friction force, the platform achieves hybrid output decoupling and improved output characteristics. The coarse-fine cooperatively actuation principle and decoupling control strategy are employed to ensure large stroke positioning with high accuracy and reduced coupling errors.

Design of a Linear Walking Stage based on Two Types of Piezoelectric Actuators

Jingnan Cai et al.

Summary: Piezoelectric actuators can generate small mechanical deformation under an electric field, but they have high resolution and output force, and can operate at high frequency. A compact double-foot linear walking stage based on shear and stack piezoelectric actuators is proposed, achieving stable movement with high speed, load capacity, and resolution, as verified through finite element analysis and experiments.
