Summary: The transient behavior of a magnetic polyelectrolyte hydrogel under an external magnetic field in an ionic solution is studied using a multiphysics model. The model accounts for various physicochemical mechanisms and environmental factors, such as magnetic intensity, pH level, salt concentration, and distance between hydrogel and magnet. Simulation results show that these factors influence the compression and extension of the hydrogel.
