This article investigates the axial compressive behavior of GFRP-repaired dented steel tubes through experimental and numerical methods. The results demonstrate that GFRP repair can improve the ultimate compression strength of steel tubes.
This article mainly investigates the axial compressive behavior of GFRP-repaired dented steel tubes through experimental and numerical methods. First, the experimental tests are implemented to introduce dented damage, perform repair processing, and research the final compression response. Subsequently, numerical simulation is conducted to characterize the dented deformation and the axial compression behavior of GFRP-repaired dented steel tubes. Finally, the parametric studies of GFRP-repaired steel tubes are further conducted numerically. The results demonstrated that GFRP can evidently polish up the mechanical behavior of dented steel tube, delay local buckling, and finally improve the ultimate compression strength of steel tubes.
