Broadband energy harvester for low-frequency rotations utilizing centrifugal softening piezoelectric beam array

Shitong Fang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a centrifugal softening beam array harvester, achieving broadband energy harvesting by arranging groups of inverted piezoelectric beams at different rotational radii. The centrifugal softening effect decreases the resonant frequency and enhances energy output under low-frequency rotations. The parallel-SSHI circuit shows highest output power and broadest bandwidth compared to standard AC/DC and series-SSHI circuits.

Split Cantilever Multi-Resonant Piezoelectric Energy Harvester for Low-Frequency Application

David Omooria Masara et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new method of designing a broadband harvester for high energy harvesting in a low-frequency range of 10-15 Hz. The design includes a cantilever beam with parallel grooves forming three branches with unequal mass distributions, covered in piezoelectric material to form a bimorph. Through parametric study with FEM, appropriate geometry and mass sizes were obtained. Simulation in COMSOL Multiphysics showed that the harvester can efficiently harvest energy at specific load resistances.
