Performance evaluation of buried pipe under loading using fiber Bragg grating and particle image velocimetry techniques

Summary: The study demonstrates the feasibility of using FBG sensors to monitor the behavior of soil-pipe system under surcharge loadings through 1-g plane strain model tests. Three types of soil failure surfaces and two theoretical methods to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity of the soil-pipe system are identified. The evolution of pipe strain measurement under different ground settlements is discussed in detail, and a method is proposed to calculate radial displacements with a relative error below +/- 10%.

Summary: The study evaluated the safety during the cooperative operation of open-pit mining and underground mining, optimized backfill mechanical parameters through numerical simulations and experiments. The results showed that backfill height had the most significant impact on the safety of roofs and underground backfill pillars, and the safety factors met requirements.
