Synthesis and Characterization of Co-ZnO and Evaluation of Its Photocatalytic Activity for Photodegradation of Methyl Orange

Muhammad Adeel et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis using Co-ZnO as a catalyst showed superior efficiency in degrading organic pollutants in wastewater, particularly methyl orange dye. The inclusion of 10% cobalt in Co-ZnO significantly enhanced its photocatalytic activity, leading to faster degradation compared to pure ZnO. The presence of cobalt inhibited electron-hole recombination, contributing to the improved degradation of the dye.

Influence of silver doping on the structure, optical and photocatalytic properties of Ag-doped BaTiO3 ceramics

M. A. Majeed Khan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the microstructure, optical, dielectric, photocatalytic, and electrochemical properties of monodispersed Ag-doped BaTiO3 nanosized particles. The introduction of silver ions (5% Ag) reduced the band gap energy of BaTiO3 NPs and enhanced their photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of organic pollutants. The study suggests that Ag-doped BaTiO3 NPs have potential applications as efficient photocatalysts and energy storage materials.

Novel AgI/BiSbO4 heterojunction for efficient photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants under visible light: Interfacial electron transfer pathway, DFT calculation and degradation mechanism study

Zhuangzhuang Wang et al.

Summary: A novel AgI/BiSbO4 heterojunction photocatalyst was constructed, enhancing the generation of hydroxyl and superoxide radicals for efficient degradation of organic pollutants. Characterizations and theoretical calculations confirmed strong interfacial charge transfer and the formation of Ag-0 NPs during the photocatalytic process, further promoting the separation of photoinduced carriers. Proposed photocatalytic degradation pathways and mechanisms provide insights for the development of AgI-based heterojunction photocatalysts.

Piezoelectric effect synergistically enhances the performance of Ti32-oxo-cluster/BaTiO3/CuS p-n heterojunction photocatalytic degradation of pollutants

Luping Zhou et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a Ti-32-oxo-cluster/BaTiO3/CuS three-layer heterojunction material that can effectively utilize visible light and vibration energy for photo-piezoelectric synergistic catalytic degradation of pollutants, showing a high degradation rate. By inserting the piezoelectric material BaTiO3 between p-type CuS and n-type CTOC, the separation and migration of photo-generated carriers were promoted, achieving a photo-piezoelectric synergistic catalytic effect.

Synchronous photosensitized degradation of methyl orange and methylene blue in water by visible-light irradiation

Peng Chen et al.

Summary: A novel method using methylene blue as a photosensitizer for the homogeneous degradation of methyl orange under visible-light irradiation was proposed. The degradation mechanism involves Type II pathway and Type I photosensitization, and synchronous removal of methyl orange and methylene blue can be achieved by controlling the initial methylene blue concentration. This cost-effective method shows great potential in eliminating methyl orange and methylene blue from wastewater and offers a new strategy for sustainable water treatment.
