Urchinlike Carbon-Coated TiO2 Microspheres with Enhanced Photothermal-Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Performance for Full-Spectrum Solar Energy Conversion

Jinghua Li et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon coated urchinlike TiO2 microspheres were prepared for photothermal and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. The optimized catalyst showed a 5.1 times higher photothermal catalytic hydrogen generation activity compared to the sum of photocatalytic and thermocatalytic reactions. This enhancement was attributed to the synergistic effect of electron mobility and surface temperature. The presence of carbon microspheres expanded light absorption and significantly improved photocatalytic efficiency.

Rational Design of High-Concentration Ti3+ in Porous Carbon-Doped TiO2 Nanosheets for Efficient Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Qing Han et al.

Summary: The study presents porous carbon-doped anatase TiOx (C-TiOx) nanosheets with high-concentration active sites of Ti3+ obtained through a reproducible bottom-up approach. It demonstrates that the high-concentration Ti3+ sites play a vital role in enhancing N-2 photoreduction activity. Combined with the morphology of porous nanosheets and the loading of a Ru/RuO2 cocatalyst, the optimized C-TiOx shows a high NH3 production rate and remarkable quantum efficiency under visible-light irradiation, outperforming current TiO2-based photocatalysts.
