A bimodal grain structured Zn-0.4Mg-0.02Mn alloy with superior strength-ductility synergy was successfully prepared by combined equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) and cold rolling. The alloy exhibits an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 334.4 MPa and an elongation (EL) of 40.0%, far surpassing the benchmark for medical implants. The mechanical superiority of the alloy is attributed to hetero-deformation induced (HDI) strengthening.
In this work, a bimodal grain structured Zn-0.4Mg-0.02Mn alloy with superior strength-ductility synergy was successfully prepared by combined equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) and cold rolling.
