This study successfully detected the microstructural evolution during tensile deformation in interstitial-free (IF) steel using in-situ electrical resistivity measurements. The electrical resistivity gradually increased at the stage of uniform elongation, while it significantly increased at the stage of local elongation.
We attempted to detection of microstructural evolution during tensile deformation in interstitial-free (IF) steel using the in-situ electrical resistivity measurements. Tensile specimens were connected to a power supply in series, and the electrical resistivity of the gauge region in the tensile specimen was measured during tensile deformation. Electrical resistivity gradually increased at the stage of uniform elongation, and this was attributed to the increase in dislocation density. Additionally, electrical resistivity drastically increased at the stage of local elongation, which was attributed to the increase in area fraction of voids.
