Keratin/alginate hybrid hydrogels filled with halloysite clay nanotubes for protective treatment of human hair

Giuseppe Cavallaro et al.

Summary: The application of keratin/alginate hydrogel filled with halloysite nanotubes as a protective coating for hair was investigated. The specific interactions between biomacromolecules and nanotubes were explored through studying colloidal properties and rheological characteristics. The addition of halloysite nanotubes facilitated the crosslinking of the biopolymer. The protective efficiency of the hydrogel was evaluated by studying the tensile properties of hair fibers exposed to UV irradiation. The results showed that the hydrogel filled with halloysite nanotubes effectively protected the hair.

Silanized halloysite nanotubes as 'nano-platform' for the complexation and removal of Fe (II) and Fe (III) ions from aqueous environment

Gaurav Pandey et al.

Summary: This study focused on the removal of Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions from water using functionalized halloysite nanotubes. The results showed that the functionalized nanotubes had excellent iron removal efficiency for both ions and better complexation and removal for Fe(II) than Fe(III). The study also found that the nanotubes could be reused up to 5 cycles and provided a more sustainable alternative to conventional iron removal techniques.

PANI/BaFe12O19@Halloysite ternary composites as novel microwave absorbent

Zihao Chen et al.

Summary: A three-phase PANI/BaFe12O19@Hal heterostructure was designed and fabricated in this study as an efficient lightweight electromagnetic wave absorbing material. The material exhibited the best microwave absorption performance when the weight ratio of PANI was 40%, with a frequency bandwidth of 9.60 GHz and a minimum absorption peak of 14.77 dB at 11.92 GHz. Introducing halloysite improved the microwave absorption performance and enriched the absorbing mechanism of the composite materials.
