Silicon nitride deposited by laser assisted plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition for next generation organic electronic devices

Ki Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of laser-assisted PECVD deposition of silicon nitride on the characteristics of the deposited film, finding that LAPECVD can improve deposition rates, N/Si stoichiometry, residual stress, and reduce damage to devices. These results suggest that LAPECVD could be a promising approach for high-quality film deposition in next-generation microelectronic industries.

Effective encapsulation of ZnO thin film transistors controlled by thermal energy

Xue Chen et al.

Summary: Passivation of oxide-based thin film transistors still poses a challenge due to the need for thermal treatments, which can impact the transistor characteristics. By reducing the growth temperatures of passivation layers, the performance of TFTs can be maintained within an acceptable range. Among all devices, TFTs with Al2O3 PVLs deposited at 100 degrees C using H2O as oxidant exhibit high mobility, proper threshold voltage, low subthreshold swing, and excellent stability.

Atomic-Layer-Deposited SiOx/SnOx Nanolaminate Structure for Moisture and Hydrogen Gas Diffusion Barriers

Ju-Hwan Han et al.

Summary: High-density SnOx and SiOx thin films were deposited via ALD at low temperatures, demonstrating their thin-film encapsulation properties. The film density, crystallinity, and pinholes in SnOx film were found to be closely related to the diffusion barrier properties of the film. A nanolaminate structure of SiOx and SnOx deposited using plasma-enhanced ALD showed promising performance as passivation layers in electronic devices.

Amorphous Alumina Film Robust under Cyclic Deformation: a Highly Impermeable and a Highly Flexible Encapsulation Material

Jeong-Hyun Woo et al.

Summary: The study suggests that a transparent and low-temperature synthetic alumina single layer can be used as a highly impermeable and flexible encapsulation material for flexible organic solar cells. Organic solar cells encapsulated with alumina films can maintain 80% of initial efficiency even after cyclic bending with a 4 mm bending radius for 2 weeks.

High-Throughput Virtual Screening of Host Materials and Rational Device Engineering for Highly Efficient Solution-Processed Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Deepak Kumar Dubey et al.

Summary: The selection of suitable host and electron-transporting material is crucial for the generation and collection of radiative excitons in OLEDs. A highly efficient multistack OLED device structure has been developed through high-throughput virtual screening, achieving excellent performance including maximum power efficiency and brightness. Through optimization of the device structure, highly efficient low-color temperature OLEDs have been fabricated for physiologically friendly night lighting.

A Review on Emerging Barrier Materials and Encapsulation Strategies for Flexible Perovskite and Organic Photovoltaics

Luke J. Sutherland et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells and organic photovoltaics have shown rapid development in the past decade, with high efficiency and flexibility. However, operational stability remains a challenge, particularly due to degradation from moisture and oxygen exposure. Barrier encapsulation is a promising solution for delaying degradation in flexible devices.

Alkyl-π functional molecular liquids towards soft electronics

Takashi Machida et al.

Summary: A new trend in electronics is the development of soft electronic devices with freely deformable, stretchable, and bendable features. Functional molecular liquids (FMLs) have emerged as promising materials for soft electronics, offering optoelectronic functions determined by pi-conjugated moieties and allowing for direct painting, nipping, and soaking. Researchers have successfully developed nonvolatile, room-temperature FMLs with alkyl chains for stable optical and electronic properties, enabling light-emitting, photovoltaic, and electret functions in soft electronics.
