Regeneration mechanism, modification strategy, and environment application of layered double hydroxides: Insights based on memory effect

Haoyang Ye et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the memory effect of LDHs, discussing various active sites on LDHs/LDOs and the importance of site structure. It introduces the modification methods of LDHs, summarizes the characteristics of memory effect, and analyzes the mechanism of chemical reaction, topology, thermodynamics, and microscopic mechanism of memory effect. The influencing factors and applications in environmental remediation are presented, along with the challenges and prospects of memory effect-based LDHs.

Insights into memory effect mechanisms of layered double hydroxides with solid-state NMR spectroscopy

Li Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors investigate the memory effect mechanism of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) using solid-state NMR spectroscopy. They discover that the structure recovery can occur in a virtually solid-state process, providing a more environmentally friendly and economically feasible preparation route for LDHs.

Optimization of sulfate removal from aqueous media by surfactant-modified layered double hydroxide using response surface methodology

Sousan Besharatlou et al.

Summary: In this study, Mn-Al and Cu-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) adsorbents were prepared using the co-precipitation method, and Cu-Al LDO was obtained by heating Cu-Al at 500 degrees C for effective removal of sulfate (SO42-) from aqueous media. Hybrid nanocomposites were then synthesized to improve the selectivity and capacity of Cu-Al LDO by in situ formation of an inorganic network in the presence of organic compounds. Various characterization techniques and studies on SO42- adsorption were conducted, along with optimization using central composite design under response surface methodology. Competitive anions and desorbing agents were also investigated for their effects on SO42- adsorption and desorption.
