Effect of (Ti, Mo)xC Particle Size on Wear Performance of High Titanium Abrasion-resistant Steel

Qi Wang et al.

Summary: Research on (Ti, Mo)(x)C-reinforced steels shows that increasing particle size leads to decreased wear resistance, as larger stress occurs due to different thermal expansion coefficients between coarse particles and the surrounding matrix, promoting crack initiation and propagation. The optimum abrasion resistance of (Ti, Mo)(x)C-reinforced steel is 1.76 times that of traditional low alloy wear-resistant steel with similar hardness.

Hot Deformation Behaviors in Ti-6Al-4V/(TiB + TiC) Composites

Xuejian Lin et al.

Summary: Thermal compression testing of particle-reinforced titanium matrix composites was conducted, revealing a decrease in flow stress with increasing deformation temperature and an increase with increasing strain rate. A hot processing map was established to determine optimal thermal deformation parameters and corresponding microstructural characteristics.

Characterization of carbide particle-reinforced 316L stainless steel fabricated by selective laser melting

Ayan Bhowmik et al.

Summary: This study fabricated a TiC particle strengthened 316L stainless steel metal matrix composite using selective laser melting and characterized its microstructure with a focus on TiC carbides. Two families of TiC carbides were found in the SLM fabricated microstructure, formed along grain boundaries and in the grain interior. The contribution of nano-sized TiC precipitates to the strength of the composite was discussed, showing a significant increase in strength compared to pure 316L.
