Preparation of biocarbon micro coils

Kyoka Komaba et al.

Summary: A novel carbonization technique was developed to prepare carbon micro coils using synthetic polymers coated on plant helical vessels. This technique, which involved natural resources, conducting polymer synthesis, and carbon science, allowed for the preparation of helical carbon material without the use of organic gases or solvents. The biocarbon micro coils prepared in this study were characterized by various techniques, including infrared absorption, optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy, and their magnetic properties were examined by electron spin resonance and a superconducting quantum interference device. Additionally, the water transport function in the helical vessels was discussed.

Chirality Induction to CdSe Nanocrystals Self-Organized on Silica Nanohelices: Tuning Chiroptical Properties

Peizhao Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that CdSe nanocrystals grafted on chiral silica nanoribbons exhibit optically active properties that are strongly dependent on grafting densities and the sizes of the nanocrystals. Additionally, the morphology of the chiral silica templates affects the direction of grafting and the change in CD spectra.

Tunable morphology and functionality of multicomponent self-assembly: A review

Liangchun Li et al.

Summary: The programmed self-assembly and self-organization of well-designed molecular monomers have been widely used to design stable nanostructures with desired structures and unique functions. Multicomponent supramolecular self-assembly offers the possibility to control the self-assembly process and generate a wider and more complex structure, enhance modularity, and provide spatiotemporal control of self-assembly. This new approach may offer a way to build tuning morphology and functionality materials.

The Power of Fiber Twist

Xiang Zhou et al.

Summary: Nature's evolution has led to the development of twisted structures in various biological species. By mimicking these structures, twisted fibers of different diameters have been prepared. Mechanical twist insertion generates internal stress, changes macromolecular orientation, and increases compactness, affecting the chemical and physical properties of fibers.
