Crack repairing of high strength engineered cementitious composites using bacteria-free waste medium

Jianhang Feng et al.

Summary: The study found that high strength ECC showed superior crack healing efficiency when immersed in bacteria-free waste medium compared to water, with carbonate ions playing a key role in the process. The waste medium helped in crack closure, restoring water tightness and tensile properties of the specimens.

A high-efficiency self-healing cementitious material based on supramolecular hydrogels impregnated with phosphate and ammonium

Xiang Liu et al.

Summary: High-efficiency self-healing cementitious materials using hydroxyapatites as healing product were described. Supramolecular hydrogels impregnated with phosphate and ammonium ions were designed to close and completely heal cracks up to 1 mm in width. Ammonium ions facilitated the formation and aggregation of healing products which were converted into hydroxyapatites, improving the maximum healable crack width.
