ACE inhibitory effect of the protein hydrolysates prepared from commercially available nori product by pepsin-trypsin digestion

Rie Morikawa et al.

Summary: This study examined the ACE inhibitory effect of protein hydrolysates from nori products containing Pyropia pseudolinearis. Twelve ACE inhibitory peptides, including ten novel ones, were identified, with FAR and GRP showing particularly low IC50 values. The peptide FAR, specific to nori, was predicted to bind to the catalytic center of ACE, suggesting a potential role in hypertension prevention.

First Report of Screening of Novel Angiotensin-I Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Peptides Derived from the Red Alga Acrochaetium sp.

Seto Windarto et al.

Summary: ACE inhibitors generated from food proteins, such as the bioactive peptide VL-9 derived from the red alga Acrochaetium sp., have gained attention as potential alternatives to natural bioactive food components and synthetic drugs. VL-9 exhibited ACE inhibitory activity and was identified as a non-competitive inhibitor through molecular docking simulation. This discovery highlights the potential of Acrochaetium sp. as a source for developing functional foods targeting hypertension.

Characterization of ACE Inhibitory Peptides Prepared from Pyropia pseudolinearis Protein

Yuya Kumagai et al.

Summary: The hydrolysates of red algal proteins are good candidates for ACE inhibition. 42 ACE inhibitory peptides were identified from Pyropia pseudolinearis, among which LRM showed high inhibitory activity and was highly conserved in red algae.
