Predicting transport of intra-articularly injected growth factor fusion proteins into human knee joint cartilage

Yamini Krishnan et al.

Summary: There are currently no known drugs or treatment methods to prevent post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA), but cationic delivery carriers can help overcome the challenge of drug delivery. In this study, a cationic green fluorescent protein (GFP) was used as a carrier to deliver Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) for potential therapeutic treatment of PTOA. Through in vitro experiments and the development of a predictive mathematical transport model, the study provides a foundation for translating these findings into preclinical and potentially clinical applications.

Multi-vendor multi-site quantitative MRI analysis of cartilage degeneration 10 Years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: MOON-MRI protocol and preliminary results

D. Xie et al.

Summary: This study presents the protocol and preliminary results of a multi-vendor, multi-site quantitative MRI study for knee post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) 10 years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). The results indicate significant cartilage degeneration in both operated and contralateral knees compared with healthy control knees.

Automation of Quantifying Axonal Loss in Patients with Peripheral Neuropathies through Deep Learning Derived Muscle Fat Fraction

Yongsheng Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a deep learning model was applied to automate the segmentation of muscle MRI images for quantifying individual muscle fat fraction in patients with peripheral neuropathies. The automated results showed good agreement with manual results in quantifying the fat fraction for individual muscles, indicating the potential of using this method in longitudinal studies.
