Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: the Italian version of the Forgotten Joint Score-12 is valid and reliable to assess prosthesis awareness

Umile Giuseppe Longo et al.

Summary: The study conducted a psychometric validation of the Italian version of FJS-12 for patients undergoing Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) for the first time. The FJS-12 showed good internal consistency and acceptable test-retest reliability. There was a correlation between FJS-12 and WOMAC at different time points post-surgery.

Midflexion instability in total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review

Umile Giuseppe Longo et al.

Summary: Anteroposterior translation of >= 7mm was an independent risk factor for midflexion instability at 30 degrees knee flexion based on this systematic review. Joint line position can be altered by up to 5mm without measurable changes in joint stability. Both an increase and a decrease in posterior condylar offset led to 30 degrees midflexion instability.

Gender related results in total knee arthroplasty: a 15-year evaluation of the Italian population

Umile Giuseppe Longo et al.

Summary: The study revealed a continuous increase in the number of total knee arthroplasty procedures performed in Italy from 2001 to 2016, with a majority of surgeries performed on women. However, there was a higher percentage of procedures performed on males under the age of 50.

Supervised Rehabilitation May Lead to Better Outcome than Home-Based Rehabilitation Up to 1 Year after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Hye Chang Rhim et al.

Summary: This study found that supervised rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction resulted in higher muscle strength, better neuromuscular control, and higher patient-reported knee function scores compared to home-based rehabilitation at 6 months and 1 year postoperatively.

Validity Analysis of WalkerViewTM Instrumented Treadmill for Measuring Spatiotemporal and Kinematic Gait Parameters

Marco Bravi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the WalkerView™ (WV) is a valid tool for analyzing the spatiotemporal parameters of walking and assessing the hip's total range of motion. However, the agreement levels for knee total range of motion and all kinematic peak values were lower, requiring careful evaluation.

Efficacy and safety of a self-developed home-based enhanced knee flexion exercise program compared with standard supervised physiotherapy to improve mobility and quality of life after total knee arthroplasty: a randomized control study

Tianyang Xu et al.

Summary: The study found that the home-based, enhanced knee flexion exercise program was non-inferior to standard supervised physiotherapy in TKA patients 12 months postoperatively. Patients in the KFEH group had better range of motion at 1 month.

Does Posterior Cruciate Ligament Retention or Sacrifice in Total Knee Replacement Affect Proprioception? A Systematic Review

Marco Bravi et al.

Summary: This study assessed the effect of PCL on knee joint proprioception in total knee replacement and found that retaining PCL did not significantly improve joint proprioception. Further research is needed due to the high heterogeneity in study designs and assessment methods. Future studies should focus on the potential correlation between joint proprioception and walking function.
