CuSx-mediated two reaction systems enable biomimetic photocatalysis in CO2 reduction with visible light

Ling-Xiang Wang et al.

Summary: The catalytic performance of heterogeneous catalysts can be effectively improved by optimizing the catalysts through appropriate structure design. Constructing a hybrid structure with Cu2S nanoparticles on amorphous CuSx matrix can enhance the catalysis of cuprous sulfide, leading to a significantly higher CO production rate in photocatalytic CO2 reduction under visible light irradiation. This enhancement is attributed to two reaction systems, involving light reaction on the heterojunctions of Cu2S nanoparticles and CuSx matrix for proton/electron production, and dark reaction on defect-rich CuSx for CO2 reduction.

Effective H2O2-Free photo-Fenton processes over ZnSe nanosheets for photocatalytic degradation of dyes and antibiotics

Keting Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the in-situ photocatalytic generation of H2O2 using ZnSe nanosheets combined with Fe2+ for Fenton reaction can effectively degrade dyes and antibiotics. The photo-Fenton degradation rate is higher than that of photocatalytic and Fenton processes alone. ZnSe also shows excellent stability and hydrophilicity, which facilitates the contact between the catalyst and pollutants. The kinetic analysis demonstrates that the photo-Fenton degradation of ZnSe follows a pseudo-first-order kinetic.

Cobalt-intercalated one-dimensional nanocrystals of urea perylene imide polymer for enhanced visible-light photocatalytic water oxidation

Aihui Cao et al.

Summary: Urea perylene imide polymer (UPDI) is successfully recombined with Co(NO3)(2) molecules to form one-dimensional nanocrystals (Co-UPDI) for enhanced photocatalytic oxygen evolution (POE) under visible light. Co-UPDI exhibits a significantly higher POE rate compared to UPDI, and it achieves the highest POE among reported tests in an aqueous colloid system. The formation of heterojunction between UPDI and Co(NO3)(2) is crucial for the enhanced performance, and the CoOOH cocatalyst is formed in-situ during POE. Co-UPDI also generates more excitons with longer lifetime and has faster exciton transfer compared to UPDI nanocrystals.
