pycotem: An open source toolbox for online crystal defect characterization from TEM imaging and diffraction

Frederic Mompiou et al.

Summary: This study presents a series of tools that facilitate the determination of crystal orientation, dislocations, interface planes, and misorientation between two crystals from TEM micrographs and diffraction patterns. These tools provide a faster and easier way to analyze data, especially suitable for characterizing dislocations and grain boundaries during in situ experiments.

Raman spectroscopy coupled to principal component analysis for studying UO2 nuclear fuels with different grain sizes due to the chromia addition

A. Milena-Perez et al.

Summary: Current necessities in nuclear power plants have led to an increase in burn-up of nuclear fuel during operation, resulting in the development of UO2-based fuels with doping agents like chromia (Cr2O3) to enhance grain growth and retention of fission products. By using Raman spectroscopy and Principal Component Analysis, the effectiveness of Cr2O3 addition in improving fuel performance is demonstrated.

Influence of the PuO2 content on the sintering behaviour of UO2-PuO2 freeze-granulated powders under reducing conditions

Julie Simeon et al.

Summary: The sintering behavior of freeze-granulated UO2-PuO2 powders with different Pu content was studied, revealing that densification was controlled by grain boundary diffusion and grain growth by the grain boundaries. The sintered microstructure of samples with 98% density exhibited a homogeneous distribution of plutonium and uranium cations, independent of the Pu content.
