Spectroscopic and Computational Study of Boronium Ionic Liquids and Electrolytes

Jonathan Clarke-Hannaford et al.

Summary: Boronium cation-based ionic liquids have high thermal stability and a >5.8 V electrochemical stability window. The combination of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and DFT calculations was used to characterize four ILs and electrolytes with different boronium cations and anions. The research provides insights into ion-ion interactions and vibrational frequencies for proper mode assignments and spectroscopic features expected at the interface with a Li(001) surface.
