All-Optical Thermometry with NV and SiV Color Centers in Biocompatible Diamond Microneedles

Lena Golubewa et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates all-optical in vitro temperature monitoring in the physiologically significant range using biocompatible diamond microneedles enriched with NV/SiV color centers. The simultaneous detection of NV and SiV fluorescence enables two-band visualization of living cells combined with temperature sensing. The results show that temperature can be measured by SiV ZPL characteristics and accuracy can be improved by normalizing the PL signal.

Photoluminescence of Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers by Ultraviolet One- and Two-Photon Excitation of Fluorescent Nanodiamonds

Teng- Yang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that fluorescent nanodiamonds emit red fluorescence when exposed to specific wavelength lasers. At low power, the emission is mainly due to excitation of electrons from the valence band of diamond to the NV0 centers, while at high power, nonresonant two-photon interband excitation dominates.

Carbon Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Functionalization and Sensing Applications

Giorgio Speranza

Summary: Recent advances in nanomaterial design and synthesis have led to the development of robust sensing systems with superior analytical performance. Carbon-based sensors, known for their biocompatibility, sensitivity, selectivity, and low limits of detection, have been widely used for the detection of organic and inorganic molecules. Carbon nanomaterials, such as fullerenes, carbon onions, carbon quantum dots, nanodiamonds, carbon nanotubes, and graphene, have unique properties that make them ideal for sensing applications, showing promise for future developments.

Thermal behaviors of the sharp zero-phonon luminescence lines of NV center in diamond

Yitian Bao et al.

Summary: The NV center in diamond has emerged as a promising candidate for single-photon emitters and quantum bits. A study on the temperature dependence of the zero-phonon luminescence showed that it supports a generalized quantum theory, especially in terms of how temperature affects the luminescence intensity.
