The Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma for Improving Pain and Function in Lateral Epicondylitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis with Risk-of-Bias Assessment

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for lateral epicondylitis and found that patients receiving PRP had significantly improved pain scores at 3 and 6 months compared to those receiving autologous whole blood, though functional outcomes were similar. PRP was also found to be superior to corticosteroids in terms of pain and functional improvement at 6 months. However, due to limitations in available studies and the lack of quantification of specific PRP content, the authors could not conclusively support or discourage the use of PRP for lateral epicondylitis.
