Transition metal oxide (NiO, CuO, ZnO)-doped calcium oxide catalysts derived from eggshells for the transesterification of refined waste cooking oil

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of new transition metal oxide-modified CaO catalysts derived from eggshells for the transesterification of waste cooking oil. The NiO/CaO catalyst showed high catalytic activity due to its high basicity and relatively large surface area, leading to a high biodiesel production rate under optimal conditions. The biodiesel produced under these conditions met the EN 14214 and ASTM D6751 standards for acid value and free fatty acids.
