An Adaptive Graph Morlet Wavelet Transform for Railway Wayside Acoustic Detection

Dingcheng Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel method called adaptive graph Morlet wavelet transform (AGMWT) is proposed for fault feature extraction in railway wayside acoustic detection. The method involves transforming acoustic signals into horizontal visibility graphs, conducting inner product operations, and applying adaptive wavelet threshold and shrinkage strategy. The proposed method has been verified to have better denoising ability than other methods through simulation, laboratory, and field experiments.

Kalman filter-based subspace identification for operational modal analysis under unmeasured periodic excitation

Szymon Gres et al.

Summary: In this study, a subspace identification method is developed to estimate structural parameters while rejecting the influence of periodic input. The periodic information is estimated with a non-steady state Kalman filter and removed from the original output signal by an orthogonal projection, resulting in consistent estimation of the modes of the structural system.

A new SVD-based filtering technique for operational modal analysis in the presence of harmonic excitation and noise

Amirali Sadeqi et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a time-domain filtering technique based on singular value decomposition for eliminating excitation/noise in operational modal analysis. The technique selects and explores components from the decomposed vibrational response, removes those associated with steady-state response and noise, and uses the transient response for identifying modal parameters. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated through numerical and experimental case studies, showing its capability to eliminate noise and excitation harmonics and reconstruct vibration signals.

Output-only modal parameter identification of structures by vision modal analysis

Zhong-Rong Lu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a vision modal analysis framework for modal parameter identification of structures using vision measurement. The framework utilizes optical flow theory to derive vision data from vibrating structure pixels, and then identifies vision modal parameters through frequency domain decomposition, recovering structural mode shapes from vision modal shapes through motion extraction. Feasibility and accuracy are demonstrated through numerical examples and an experimental case study.

Extended Empirical Wavelet Transformation: Application to structural updating

Ali Karimpour et al.

Summary: Accurately determining both global and local modal information is crucial in structural model updating processes. The Extended Empirical Wavelet Transformation (EEWT) method proposed in this study allows for accurate extraction of modal information under transient excitations. Experimental implementation of the EEWT method in two problems demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying structural properties and boundary coefficients.
