Stable Metal-Organic Frameworks based mixed tetramethylammonium hydroxide for toluene adsorption

Tian-tian Pan et al.

Summary: VOCs are major air pollutants that can cause haze and photochemical reactions, and the removal of VOCs using Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) like TMAOH@MIL-101(Cr) is effective. The prepared samples showed high adsorption capacity due to their high BET surface area, with TMAOH-2@MIL-101(Cr) reaching an adsorption ability of 339 mg/g. The addition of tetramethylammonium hydroxide can improve the preparation of high-purity MOFs with high porosity.

Effects of Molecular Properties on Adsorption of Six-Carbon VOCs by Activated Carbon in a Fixed Adsorber

Show-Chu Huang et al.

Summary: Gravimetric adsorption equipment with a micro-balance was used to measure the adsorption of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by activated carbon in the temperature range of 288 to 313 K. The results showed that nonpolar or weakly polar substances with smaller molecular weights were more easily adsorbed by the activated carbon, and increasing temperature had a negative impact on adsorption equilibrium constants. The Toth adsorption isotherm model fitting results indicated good consistency between experimental data and model predictions.

Stable metal-organic frameworks based mixed matrix membranes for Ethylbenzene/N2 separation

Zhenji Guo et al.

Summary: The study focused on using MIL-101 and UiO-66 to construct mixed matrix membranes for efficient ethylbenzene separation. Experimental results showed that MIL-101@Pebax and UiO-66@Pebax membranes with 20 wt% MOF loading ratio exhibited ethylbenzene/N-2 permselectivity of 284 and 100, respectively, at 25 degrees Celsius, which was significantly higher than the pristine Pebax membrane.

Revisiting the MIL-101 metal-organic framework: design, synthesis, modifications, advances, and recent applications

Mahmoud Y. Zorainy et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become a burgeoning topic in materials science and engineering, with success attributed to the diversity and precise control of their structures. This study critically reviews the design and synthesis of MIL-101 MOFs, including different metal analogues, synthesis strategies, and applications. The influence of synthesis parameters on final product characteristics is discussed, along with the detection of various polymorphs in the framework structures. Recent applications of MIL-101 in adsorption, catalysis, sensor design, and drug delivery are also presented and discussed.
