Role of stacking faults and hydroxyl groups on the lithium adsorption/desorption properties of layered H2TiO3

R. Marthi et al.

Summary: Layered H2TiO3 ion sieve materials exhibit promising selective lithium adsorption properties, and the role of stacking faults and surface hydroxyl groups in the adsorption/desorption process is investigated. By introducing stacking faults through different synthesis methods, it is found that the material synthesized by hydrothermal method has higher stacking fault concentration and slower lithium elution. Oxygen annealing enhances the lithium adsorption capacity by increasing the relative amount of lattice oxygen and isolated surface hydroxyl groups.

Anatase TiO2 nanowires intertangled with CNT for conductive additive-free lithium-ion battery anodes

Ximing Lu et al.

Summary: Although typical anatase TiO2/C nanocomposite electrodes have improved rate properties and capacities compared to pure anatase TiO2 counterparts, their excess inactive carbon components can negatively impact the gravimetric energy densities and initial coulombic efficiencies of batteries. On the other hand, a novel TiO2@CNT composite without conductive additive exhibits higher initial coulombic efficiency and will have an advantage in gravimetric energy density. Thus, research focusing on developing TiO2-based composites can lead to improved electrochemical properties in terms of specific capacity, initial coulombic efficiency, and gravimetric energy density.
