In this study, a new type of bimetallic particle catalyst was designed and prepared for the synthesis of benzothiazoles. The core-shell nanocomposites showed excellent catalytic properties and selectivity, providing a promising approach for the development of green chemistry and green technologies.
The development of bimetallic particles on a nano-scale for increasing catalytic activity has remained an enormous challenge in the catalytic arena. In this work, a new type of bimetallic particle catalyst was designed and prepared for the synthesis of benzothiazoles. First, msagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were produced using a co-precipitation method of working and next covered with a silica substrate. In addition, molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) crystals are used as outer shell precursors in order to stabilization of Cu2+. Using different techniques such as wide-angle XRD, FT-IR, TGA-DTG, VSM, BET, FESEM, and TEM spectroscopy, the core-shell nanocomposite structure was investigated. The proposed core-shell nanocomposites indicated excellent catalytic properties for the preparation of benzothiazole derivatives from various aldehydes and amino thiophenol that resulted in a product with higher efficiency, and high reaction speed, and high selectivity. The findings indicated that copper and MoO3 synergetic effects in the synthesis of benzothiazoles. The current study provided a rational design and synthesis of multifunctional catalysts for the development of green chemistry and green technologies.
