Vinasse: from a residue to a high added value biopolymer

Daiana Trape et al.

Summary: This study aimed to produce PHB from vinasse by Bacillus megaterium, finding that higher C or N concentrations led to decreased productivity. Optimization was conducted and it was concluded that biopolymer production from vinasse is a feasible alternative.

Biological Approaches in Polyhydroxyalkanoates Recovery

K. Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are bio-based polymers with potential to replace petrochemical plastics, but commercialization is hindered by high production costs and environmentally unfriendly recovery methods. To achieve sustainable recovery of PHA, it is essential to develop more economical and efficient strategies.
