Non-equilibrium thermoelectric transport across normal metal-quantum dot-superconductor hybrid system within the Coulomb blockade regime

Sachin Verma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electric and thermoelectric transport properties of a quantum dot coupled to metallic and superconducting reservoirs. It shows that single-particle tunnelling near the superconducting gap edge generates a large thermopower and figure of merit, while Andreev tunnelling suppresses these properties within the gap region. In the non-linear regime, the study discusses the heat current and asymmetric heat dissipation for low voltage biasing, as well as the variation of thermovoltage, thermopower, maximum power output, and efficiency with thermal gradient.

Soft-Magnetic Skyrmions Induced by Surface-State Coupling in an Intrinsic Ferromagnetic Topological Insulator Sandwich Structure

Takuya Takashiro et al.

Summary: In this study, a sandwich structure was fabricated to observe the skyrmion phenomenon on a ferromagnetic topological insulator. By controlling the thickness of the spacer layer, the formation of skyrmions was stabilized. Additionally, the ordered arrangement of the ferromagnetic septuple-layer topological insulator resulted in soft magnetic skyrmions.

Thermoelectric transport in two-terminal topological nodal-line semimetals nanowires

Ning-Xuan Yang et al.

Summary: Recently studied topological nodal-line semimetals (TNLSMs) have attracted significant attention for their diverse physical properties and potential applications. This theoretical study investigates the thermoelectric transport of pristine TNLSM nanowires and TNLSM p-n-p junctions. The researchers calculate the Seebeck coefficients S(c) and the thermoelectric figure of merit ZT using the Landauer-Buttiker formula and the nonequilibrium Green's function method. The findings show that factors such as magnetic fields, disorder, on-site energy, and mass term affect the thermoelectric coefficient, and the transport gap can lead to large S(c) and ZT values. Additionally, the study reveals that a series of peaks in S(c) and ZT occur when the transmission coefficient jumps between integer plateaus. This research also highlights the significant impact of the potential well parameter and magnetic field on S(c) and ZT in TNLSM p-n-p junctions, suggesting the potential of this setup for thermoelectric device applications.

Topological Hall effect in magnetic topological insulator films

Jian-Xiao Zhang et al.

Summary: A numerical simulation was conducted to investigate the anomalous Hall and topological Hall effects in magnetic topological insulator films, showing that spin-orbit coupling plays different roles in quantum transport in clean and disordered limits. In the clean limit, spin-orbit coupling mainly affects longitudinal transport, while in the disordered limit, it strongly influences topological Hall conductance. This reveals a dramatic interplay between spin-orbit coupling and disorder effects in magnetic topological insulator systems.

A scalable molecule-based magnetic thin film for spin-thermoelectric energy conversion

Inseon Oh et al.

Summary: The molecule-based magnetic film for spin thermoelectric applications offers various synthetic routes, weak spin-lattice interaction, and low thermal conductivity, enabling effective energy harvesting from waste heat. By electrochemically depositing thin films on chromium electrodes at room temperature and demonstrating extremely low heat loss, this new class of magnet paves the way for sustainable recycling of ubiquitous waste heat.

Summary: This study derived an analytical formula of the Hall conductivity on the surface of a topological insulator based on a perturbative approach, identifying magnetic textures contributing to the Hall conductivity and estimating the skyrmion-induced Hall conductivity. The results can be applied to conventional skyrmion systems as well as more general magnetic structures.
