In situ synthesized a-Fe2O3/BCN heterojunction for promoting photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance

Xiaohan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a heterojunction system consisting of hematite and boron carbonitride was fabricated and demonstrated to exhibit high catalytic activity for CO2 photoreduction. The high surface area and effective interface-contacted heterostructure of the heterojunction catalyst result in excellent light absorption, suppressed separation of photogenerated electron holes, and promoted charge transfer. The catalyst shows good reusability and stability.

Synergistically boosting highly selective CO2-to-CO photoreduction over BiOCl nanosheets via in-situ formation of surface defects and non-precious metal nanoparticles

Siwen Gong et al.

Summary: A hollow hierarchical BiOCl with highly exposed nanosheets was synthesized using a gas-bubble-template strategy, followed by in-situ introduction of oxygen vacancies and metallic bismuth nanoparticles through thermal treatment in N2. The Bi0/OVs-BOCs showed high selectivity and increased yield in CO2 photoreduction tests, with nearly four times higher efficiency compared to the original BOC. The synergistic effect of in-situ formed OVs and metal nanoparticles was found to significantly enhance the photocatalytic activity and selectivity of solar energy materials.

Advantageous roles of phosphate decorated octahedral CeO2 {111}/g-C3N4 in boosting photocatalytic CO2 reduction: Charge transfer bridge and Lewis basic site

Wanqin Li et al.

Summary: The P-CeO2/g-C3N4 photocatalyst coupling phosphate modified octahedral CeO2 {111} surface with gC(3)N(4) showed superior CO2 reduction activity due to efficient charge transfer and increased oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface. The interfacial electrons donated from g-C3N4 to CeO2 through the PO43- bridge led to Z-scheme formation, facilitating rapid photo-generated charge transfer and CO2 activation. This synergistic interaction of charge-transfer channel and abundant active sites makes P-CeO2/g-C3N4 a potential photocatalyst for CO2 reduction.
