Construction of 2D/2D/2D BiOBr/(001)-TiO2/Ti3C2Tx heterojunction for enhancing photocatalytic degradation of dye

Lingfu Yang et al.

Summary: Coupling a semiconductor with exposed high-activity crystal facets and a suitable co-catalyst to form a heterojunction is an effective way to enhance photocatalytic activity. The novel BiOBr/(001)-TiO2/Ti3C2Tx (BTT-y) shows remarkable Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation performance due to better synergy among the three substances. The improvement of RhB degradation performance is mainly attributed to the perfect matching of BiOBr and (001)-TiO2 band structure positions, which promotes the formation of heterojunction, extends visible-light absorption range, and inhibits carrier recombination.

Comparison the visible photocatalytic activity and kinetic performance of amino acids (non-metal doped) TiO2 for degradation of colored wastewater effluent

Hadis Zangeneh et al.

Summary: By doping different types of amino acids on the TiO2 lattice, three synthesized photocatalysts were successfully prepared for dye removal under visible light. The L-Arginine-TiO2 catalyst showed the highest photocatalytic removal efficiency, with the lowest recombination rate and PL intensity. Optimizing processing variables such as reducing pollutant concentration and pH, and increasing catalyst concentration, irradiation time, and light intensity significantly improved the removal efficiency. The catalyst exhibited good reusability, with 93% and 84% of DR16 and MO removed after four reuse cycles.

Adsorption-enhanced photocatalytic property of Ag-doped biochar/g-C3N4/TiO2 composite by incorporating cotton-based biochar

Junling Kuan et al.

Summary: In this study, waste cotton fibers were used to obtain biochar, which was then combined with Ag-doped g-C3N4/TiO2 to form a hybrid composite. The resultant composite showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance due to the presence of multi-scale porous biochar, g-C3N4 nanosheets, and Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles. The adsorption enhancement induced by the biochar resulted in narrowed band gap, suitable electronic energy band structure, and fast separation of photoinduced charge carriers.

Synthesis of TiO2/Ti3C2Tx/AgI Z-scheme photocatalyst for tetracycline hydrochloride photocatalytic degradation

Fang-Di Wu et al.

Summary: A ternary composite photocatalyst TiO2/Ti3C2Tx/AgI with high catalytic activity was successfully synthesized using simple solvothermal and coprecipitation methods. This composite catalyst exhibited superior photocatalytic degradation activity for tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) under simulated sunlight. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the high conductivity and efficient transfer of photogenerated carriers facilitated by Ti3C2Tx and the Z-scheme heterojunction formed with non-metal Ti3C2Tx as the solid medium. Superoxide radicals, singlet oxygen, and holes were identified as the main active substances in the photocatalytic degradation process.
