High pressure investigations on TTF-TCNQ charge-transfer complexes

Bing Han et al.

Summary: In this study, the high-pressure structures of the charge-transfer complex TTFTCNQ were systematically investigated using Raman and synchrony X-ray diffraction methods. No first-order phase transition was observed up to 15 GPa, providing insight into the structural stability of CTCs under pressure. This research offers a new pathway for studying the evolution of CTC structures with pressure.

Thermodynamic Driving Forces for Substrate Atom Extraction by Adsorption of Strong Electron Acceptor Molecules

Paul Ryan et al.

Summary: A quantitative structural investigation was conducted to explore the incorporation of substrate adatoms into monolayers formed by strong molecular electron acceptors deposited onto metallic electrodes. The study found that TCNQ and F4TCNQ on Ag(100) represent ideal model systems lying at the boundary between these two possibilities. This behavior is consistent with adsorption energetics, indicating that the inclusion (or exclusion) of metal atoms into organic monolayers results from both thermodynamic and kinetic factors.

Flexible Alkali-Halogen Bonding in Two Dimensional Alkali-Metal Organic Frameworks

Huan Shan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates how alkali metal ions can be utilized as pivot joints to construct tunable 2D metal organic frameworks, and successfully constructs Na-based MOFs on a gold surface. By adjusting the deflection angle of the Na coordination nodes, multiple 2D MOF architectures can be created.

Can We Predict Interface Dipoles Based on Molecular Properties?

Johannes J. Cartus et al.

Summary: This study applies high-throughput density functional theory calculations and symbolic regression to investigate correlations between adsorption-induced work function modifications and the properties of hybrid inorganic/organic interfaces. Two cases are separately considered: hypothetical self-assembled monolayers and metal-organic interfaces. The results show that while the correlations in the former case align with the Topping model as expected, the highly accurate correlations in the latter case are found to be unphysical.

First-principles calculations of hybrid inorganic-organic interfaces: from state-of-the-art to best practice

Oliver T. Hofmann et al.

Summary: Computational characterization of inorganic-organic hybrid interfaces is challenging due to the different electronic properties of the components, requiring careful selection of methods and parameters. Default settings for one component may not work well for the other, leading to inefficient or erroneous calculations. Proper atomistic representations, exchange-correlation functionals, and convergence techniques are crucial for accurate simulations.
