Comparative study of three-way catalytic performance over Pd/ CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 and Pd/La-Al2O3 catalysts: New insights into microstructure and thermal stability

Kai Chen et al.

Summary: Through evaluation and characterization of Pd/CZA catalysts and Pd/La-A catalysts, it was found that CeO2-ZrO2 modification can significantly improve the TWC catalytic performance of Pd/Al2O3 catalysts, while Pd/CZA-2 has a different microstructure compared to Pd/CZA-1, which can retain small sized PdOx species with excellent reoxidation ability. In addition, there are clear structure-activity correlations between the adsorbed reaction intermediates and TWC catalytic performance.

Effect of oxygen storage materials on the performance of Pt-based three-way catalysts

Gang Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of oxygen storage materials (OSMs) on the catalytic performance of Pt-based three-way catalysts (TWCs) was investigated. It was found that increasing the ceria content enhanced the catalytic activity and resistance to CO poisoning. However, hydrothermal ageing resulted in a degradation of catalyst performance.

Real-time observation of the effect of oxygen storage materials on Pd-based three-way catalysts under ideal automobile exhaust conditions: an operando study

Hiroyuki Asakura et al.

Summary: The dynamic behavior of Pd species and the CeO2 support in 1 wt% Pd/Al2O3 and Pd/CeO2 catalysts during three-way catalysis was studied in real time. The study demonstrated the anchoring effect of CeO2 on active metal species, as well as the oxygen storage/release effect and NO reduction ability of CeO2.

Comprehensive study of the light-off performance and surface properties of engine-aged Pd-based three-way catalysts

Masaaki Haneda et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the light-off performance of engine-aged model three-way catalysts and found a satisfactory correlation between the light-off temperatures under simulated- and real-exhaust gas conditions. It was observed that the quality of the Pd-support oxide interface and the surface state of Pd particles were strongly affected by high-temperature engine ageing. Additionally, Pd particles with a high fraction of corner sites were found to be highly active for three-way catalytic reactions.
