Unravelling the Effects of Cholesterol on the Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Responses of Di-8-ANEPPS Dye Embedded in Phosphatidylcholine Lipid Bilayers

Charlotte Bouquiaux et al.

Summary: This study investigates the structural properties and nonlinear optical responses of lipid bilayers containing different amounts of cholesterol, using the second-harmonic generation (SHG) nonlinear optical response of a probe molecule inserted into the membranes. The results show that increasing cholesterol content leads to increased rigidity in the systems, confirming the condensing effect of cholesterol on lipid bilayers.

Mechanism of collagen folding propagation studied by Molecular Dynamics simulations

Julian Hartmann et al.

Summary: Collagen forms a triple helical structure to stabilize the extracellular matrix. The rapid folding propagation process is difficult to study experimentally, but can be tracked through molecular dynamics simulations. Misfolding events, such as loop formation, may occur during the folding process.
