Nicorandil, an ATP-sensitive potassium channel activation, attenuates myocardial injury in rats with ischemic cardiomyopathy

Li Shaoqing et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that nicorandil can significantly improve heart color ultrasound and myocardial pathology in rat model with ischemic cardiomyopathy. It also showed that nicorandil can decrease mitochondrial Ca2+ concentration, increase the expressions of MFN-1, OPA-1, and Bcl, and decrease the expressions of mitochondrial mitotic proteins DRP-1, VDAC1, CytC, and Bax.

2020 Annual Report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers' National Poison Data System (NPDS): 38th Annual Report

David D. Gummin et al.

Summary: English Summary: The 38th Annual Report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers' National Poison Data System (NPDS) provides insights into the trends of poison exposures and information inquiries nationwide in 2020. Cases with more serious outcomes have increased since 2000, while cases with less serious outcomes have decreased. Antidepressant exposures showed the fastest growth, and the top exposures in children under 5 years old were cosmetics/personal care products and household cleaning substances.
