Model Synthetic Samples for Validation of NMR Signal Simulations

Nicholas N. A. Ling et al.

Summary: Simulations of NMR signals from fluids in porous media need to consider magnetic susceptibility contrast and internal magnetic field gradients. Discrepancies between simulations and experiments are attributed to heterogeneously distributed NMR surface relaxivities and internal magnetic field gradients caused by spatial variations in rock composition.

NMR Relaxation Modelling in Porous Media with Dual-Scale-Resolved Internal Magnetic Fields

Yingzhi Cui et al.

Summary: This study presents a pore-scale forward modelling approach for NMR relaxation responses of sandstones, taking into account their dual-scale nature. The approach uses X-ray micro-CT images and scanning electron microscopy images to capture the dual-scale characteristics of the sandstones and calculate the NMR response. The method is validated and applied to Bentheimer sandstone, showing excellent agreement with measured results.

Tortuosity of porous media: Image analysis and physical simulation

Jinlong Fu et al.

Summary: Tortuosity is widely used as a crucial parameter in predicting transport properties of porous media, with various definitions and evaluation methods introduced. Geometrical and physical tortuosities can differ greatly in value and should not be used interchangeably. Phenomenological relations between geometrical and physical tortuosities have been established for accurate predictions, taking into account the influence of image size and resolution.

Surface relaxivity probed by short-diffusion time NMR and Digital Rock NMR simulation

Everton Lucas-Oliveira et al.

Summary: NMR is a powerful technique used to study fluid confined in porous media, providing parameters related to material morphology and properties to estimate pore size distribution. Short-diffusion time NMR and Digital Rock NMR Simulation show good agreement in probing surface relaxivity.
