Room-Temperature Phosphorescence Enhanced by Narrowing Down ΔEST through Tuning Excited States Energy Levels

Dong Liang et al.

Summary: This work investigates the enhancement of room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) performance by altering the acceptor's heteroatoms, which reduces the energy gap between singlet and triplet states (Delta E-ST) through adjusting the molecular energy level. The emergence of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in dilute solution helps to understand the competition mechanism between different radiative decay pathways (RTP and TADF).

Rigidly Fused Spiro-Conjugated π-Systems

Shihui Liu et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the recent advances of spiro-fused pi-systems as semiconductors in molecular electronics, including ladderized spirobifluorenes, indeno-spirobifluorenes, and other spiro-condensed heteroatomic hydrocarbons, as well as rigid spirobifluorene polymers and doubly linked spiro-systems with partial chiral character. The diverse applications of these structures are thoroughly evaluated in this study.

Structure-Property Relationship on Aggregation-Induced Enhanced Emission of the Spirobifluorene Derivatives including Herringbone, T, and Helical Aggregation Mode in Solid-Phase: Synthesis, Crystallography, Density Functional Theory, Optical, and Thermal Properties

Hakan Bilgili et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the structure-property relationship of spirobifluorene (SBF) derivative molecules, showing that factors such as molecular structure, conformational twisting, structural rigidity, and supramolecular packing play significant roles in the photoluminescence behavior of SBF molecules, particularly in their aggregation-induced emission activity. The research demonstrates that herringbone-, helical-, and T-type pi stacking interactions lead to enhanced emission in supramolecular aggregates of SBF molecules, with the helical- and T-type stacking modes resulting in high fluorescence intensity.

Designing Host Materials for the Emissive Layer of Single-Layer Phosphorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diodes: Toward Simplified Organic Devices

Cyril Poriel et al.

Summary: Thanks to tremendous efforts over the past 20 years, phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs) have become a prevalent technology. Developing high-performance single-layer PhOLEDs (SL-PhOLEDs) is challenging due to the need to ensure efficient charge injection, transport, and recombination within the emissive layer. An analysis of different molecular design strategies for constructing high-efficiency hosts for SL-PhOLEDs has been conducted.
