Tunable femtosecond nonlinear absorption and optical limiting thresholds of La2O3-B2O3 glasses by controlling the borate structural units

G. Jagannath et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the optimization of borate structural units in lanthanum borate glasses by adding heavy metal oxides, resulting in an optimum optical threshold value for power optical limiting devices. The structural changes of the glasses and the nonlinear optical attributes were analyzed, indicating that LB glasses containing heavy metal oxides exhibit superior optical limiting performance.

Enhanced non-linear optical properties of Eu3+ activated glasses by embedding silver nanoparticles

Naseem Fatima et al.

Summary: Eu3+-activated glasses doped with Ag0 nanoparticles were fabricated using the melt quench method. The presence of Ag0 nanoparticles was confirmed by surface plasmon resonance peaks and transmission electron microscopy. Non-linear optical properties increased with AgNO3 concentration up to 0.6 mol %, before decreasing at higher concentrations.

Efficacy of Eu3+ on improving the near-infrared optical nonlinearities and optical limiting properties of antimony sodium borate glasses

Naseem Fatima et al.

Summary: The study investigated the efficacy of Eu3+ ions in antimony sodium borate glasses for nonlinear optical and optical limiting performances, showing an increasing trend in two photon absorption coefficients and a decreasing trend in optical limiting threshold values. These glasses are endorsed as promising materials for protection from laser induced damages, due to their improved two photon absorption and decreased optical limiting threshold coefficients with respect to Eu2O3 concentration in the compositions.
