On the restricted three-body model of the dynamical behaviour of masses of C70 fullerenes at the nanoscale

Jagadish Singh et al.

Summary: The positions and stability of C-7(0) fullerenes at the nanoscale were investigated using numerical computation and the software MATHEMATICA. The study found that the attractive Vand der Waals forces between molecules provide the centripetal forces between three fullerenes. The stationary points are located collinearly on the xi-axis and symmetrical about the eta-axis, but are unstable in the Lyapunov sense.

Two-dimensional carbon nanotube woven highly-stretchable film with strain-induced tunable impacting performance

Yushun Zhao et al.

Summary: Mechanical and impacting properties of a carbon nanotube woven film (CNWF) based on single-walled carbon nanotube have been investigated using molecular dynamic simulations. The CNWF exhibits anisotropic behavior in the axial and transverse directions, with high tensile strength and Young's modulus in the axial direction and lower values in the transverse direction. However, the CNWF shows high stretchability and excellent impact resistance. It also has the ability to sustain the impact of multiple projectiles and selectively filter them by adjusting the tensile strain. These findings provide insights for the development of strong and multifunctional weaving structures based on carbon nanotubes.

Graphene and graphene oxide energetic interactions with polymers through molecular dynamics simulations

Matt Reil et al.

Summary: Molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate plate/polymer interactions between graphene/graphene oxide plates and epoxy, PDMS, or ABS. The simulations showed that polymer matrix plate composites doped with GO exhibited stronger stabilizing interactions compared to those doped with G.

Precisely tailoring the thermodynamic compatibility between single-walled carbon nanotubes and styrene butadiene rubber via fully atomistic molecular dynamics simulation and theoretical approach

Yanlong Luo et al.

Summary: The study found that the solubility parameters of SWCNTs change with the increase of grafting ratio, leading to different compatibility behaviors with SBR for SWCNTs with different functional groups. The Flory-Huggins model can predict the compatibility well, while each functional group has a different optimum grafting ratio for the best compatibility.

Micromechanical Landscape of Three-Dimensional Disordered Graphene Networks

YinBo Zhu et al.

Summary: The mechanical behavior of disordered graphene networks (DGNs) was studied, revealing prolonged plastic platforms in tension and shear, and special plastic damages in compression, resulting in tension-compression asymmetry. Additionally, out-of-plane topological defects and average angular defects in deformed DGNs exhibit inverse proportional scaling relationship. Ashby charts demonstrate that the mechanical properties of DGNs can surpass those of most conventional materials, reaching theoretical limits.
