DFT investigation of Percyanation effect of coronene molecule: Comparative study with their Perhalogenated counterparts

Marius Ousmanou Bouba et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structures, electronic properties, and mobilities of perfluorinated, perchlorinated, and percyanated coronene molecules using density functional theory and Time Dependent DFT. The results suggest that percyanation significantly improves the optoelectronic properties of coronene, making it a promising candidate for air-stable organic materials in electronics.

Data of electronic, reactivity, optoelectronic, linear and non-linear optical parameters of doping graphene oxide nanosheet with aluminum atom

Crevain Souop Tala Foadin et al.

Summary: We have developed a design to enhance the absorption capacity, optoelectronic, linear, and nonlinear optical properties of graphene oxide nanosheets (GON) based on doping with aluminum atom. The effects of aluminum atom doping on the circular graphene oxide nanosheets were studied using density functional theory (DFT) methods, providing important data and insights into the electronic and optical characteristics of the materials.

Performance analysis of organic solar cells: Opto-electrical modeling and simulation

Nasser Sadoogi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of mobility and active layer thickness on the properties of bulk heterojunction solar cells using the drift-diffusion model. It reveals that open circuit voltage and power conversion efficiency are affected by two loss mechanisms, as well as the uneven absorption of light and distribution of photogenerated excitons in the active layer. The study suggests that simultaneous increase in mobility and thickness can significantly enhance the efficiency of bulk heterojunction solar cells.

Simple, reliable, and universal metrics of molecular planarity

Tian Lu

Summary: This paper introduces two metrics, MPP and SDP, for measuring the planarity of molecules. These metrics can be used to study the planarity of the entire molecule, measure the planarity of local structures, and even analyze the variation of molecular planarity during dynamic processes. Additionally, a new representation method based on coloring atoms according to their deviation distance from the fitting plane is proposed, which proves to be very useful in graphically exhibiting molecular planarity.

Dipole moments of conjugated donor-acceptor substituted systems: calculations vs. experiments

Vladimir Lokshin et al.

Summary: Quantum mechanical calculations using B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ model chemistry provide accurate dipole moment values and molecular geometries for simple conjugated organic compounds without rotating moieties. The presence of hindered rotation due to conjugated electron donating or accepting substituents affects the accuracy of calculated dipole moments, requiring consideration of temperature effects. Additionally, different functional methods may produce varying degrees of deviation from experimental data.
