Investigation of binding characteristics of ritonavir with calf thymus DNA with the help of spectroscopic techniques and molecular simulation

Song-Bo Kou et al.

Summary: The study found that ritonavir forms a complex with ct-DNA mainly through noncovalent interactions, showing moderate affinity. After binding to DNA, the conformation of ritonavir changed significantly, with flexibility playing a key role in stabilizing the complex. This interaction also altered the chemical properties of ritonavir when bound to DNA, as revealed by DFT calculations.

Targeting ctDNA binding and elaborated in-vitro assessments concerning novel Schiff base complexes: Synthesis, characterization, DFT and detailed in-silico confirmation

Ahmed M. Abu-Dief et al.

Summary: In this study, two novel complexes for Zn2+ and VO2+ ions were prepared using a tridentate dibasic chelating Schiff base ligand. These complexes showed anti-proliferative potential against human cancer cell lines, as well as strong antioxidant and antimicrobial features. Their binding with DNA was proposed to be mainly through intercalation or replacement modes.

Exploring the binding mechanism of β-resorcylic acid with calf thymus DNA: Insights from multi-spectroscopic, thermodynamic and bioinformatics approaches

Irfan Hussain et al.

Summary: Beta-resorcylic acid (BR) is a phytochemical widely used in the food industry for its flavoring and preservative properties, exhibiting antibacterial action against various food-borne bacteria. The study investigated the binding mechanism of BR with calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) through spectroscopic and in silico experiments, revealing a groove binding mode primarily driven by hydrogen bonding, van der Waals and hydrophobic interactions. Molecular docking and dynamics simulations supported the in vitro findings, demonstrating the groove binding mode of BR with ctDNA.
