Antimicrobial efficacy of zinc oxide nanoparticle-coated aligners on Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans

Summary: This study evaluated the antimicrobial effect of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocoating on aligners. ZnO-coated aligners showed significant antimicrobial efficacy against Streptococcus mutans, with the effect lasting for 7 days. However, the effect against Candida albicans was minimal. ZnO-coated aligners appear to be a promising technique to enhance antimicrobial effectiveness against S mutans.

Summary: A novel nano composite of CuSm0.06Fe1.94O4@g-C3N4 with exceptional properties was synthesized and showed high efficiency in degrading pollutants under visible light. The nanocomposite also exhibited good degradation effects on various dyes and pharmaceuticals. The influence of reaction parameters on degradation efficiency was investigated, and the nanocomposite showed minimal loss in performance after multiple cycles and could be easily separated from treated water.

Meta-analysis of in-vitro cytotoxicity evaluation studies of zinc oxide nanoparticles: Paving way for safer innovations

Summary: Nano-based products, particularly Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles, have gained reputation for providing next-generation solutions and are widely used in various products. However, concerns have been raised about the toxicological repercussions to human health and the environment due to the increased exposure to these particles. This study aimed at developing a predictive modelling framework to identify the potential features responsible for cytotoxicity caused by exposure to ZnO nanoparticles. Through rigorous analysis of a large body of evidence, it was found that cytotoxicity is closely related to the dose concentration of nanoparticles, followed by exposure time, disease state of the cell line, and size of the nanoparticles.

Summary: The study focused on investigating the thermal treatment effect on the synthesis of TiO2 from sol-gel method and its photoactivity for photodegradation of tartrazine yellow dye. The evaluation of thermal parameters and response, along with process optimization using response surface methodology, revealed significant influences of three parameters on the response without any interaction effects. The optimized TiO2 (TiO2Op) showed improved photoactivity and different characteristics compared to the TiO2 with lower photocatalytic activity.
